The Revolving Band was conceived in the back seat of a maroon '72 Plymouth Fury.  The A/C was
broken, the windows were down, and we were doing 75 mph. My old buddy Stephan was driving.
I don't rightly know why I let him drive...he deserted me once when the chips were down...but
that's another story for another time.

The road curled through the mountains like a long, black snake, and I had the feeling we were
slithering up its back toward the fangs of fate in the darkness.  The infamous artist Stephen
Grayce was in the car with us.  So was some other guy from Beckley, but I can't even remember
who he was.  Might'a been Harnest...I'm not sure.  And of course, Priscilla was there.   We were
drinking massive quantities of Miller Beer, Malt Duck, Absolut, and WV moonshine.  Little pills
were swallowed and weed was burned.

We hit Pineville at 2:30 am, and the girls we planned to "visit" were nowhere to be found.  And as
you well know, that's about the time any rational person decides to start a band.  So we did.
